Handmade Zine
Growing up near both sets of grandparents provided many learning opportunities. My paternal grandmother first taught me how to crochet and my maternal grandmother helped me improve those skills. Both grandmothers learned to crochet from their mothers, who learned from their mothers, and so on.
This zine honors my family history of crocheters, relating the connected rows of stitches to the generations connected through the art of crochet. Included are photos with my grandmothers, the pattern for my first project, and a “Made with love” nod to my maternal grandmother who added this reminder to her handmade gifts. I portrayed crochet physically with yarn and graphically, through print and a custom-made stamp, resulting in a homey and handmade feel.
